Working with the U.S. Air Force, Rockwell Collins provides full spectrum broadcast systems for the special mission Commando
Solo EC-130E and EC-130J. Specialized aircraft-mounted antennas and an array of communications equipment in the cargo compartment
of a highly modified C-130 are used to broadcast in standard AM, FM, HF TV and military frequencies. The primary function
of the Commando Solo is to conduct psychological operations and civil affairs broadcast missions using these particular frequencies.
The Rockwell Collins designed system is compatible with worldwide broadcast standards and performs commercial and military
broadcast missions globally. Commando Solo's system includes special antenna design analysis and test of electromagnetic capability,
and specialized transmitters enabling simulcast of up to eight different frequencies. Recent modifications to the EC-130 Commando
Solo include enhanced situational awareness, computer controlled operator stations, digital base-band processing and the capability
of broadcasting color television on a multitude of worldwide standards throughout the TV ranges.
